Title: Fablehaven

Author: Brandon Mull

Kendra and her brother, Seth, have no idea that their grandfather is the current caretaker of Fablehaven. Inside the gated woods, ancient laws keep relative order among the greedy trolls, mischievous satyrs, plotting witches, spiteful imps, and jealous fairies. But when the rules get broken, powerful forces are unleashed, and Kendra and her brother face the greatest challenge of their lives. To save their family, Fablehaven, and maybe even the world, Kendra and Seth must find the courage to do what they fear most…

My Review:

I have had so many books in my queue for a long time. One of those books was a book called Fablehaven by Brandon Mull. I had recently read the Beyonders series which was also by Brandon Mull and I loved it. I was excited to read Fablehaven because I liked his other books.

Fablehaven is about two kids (brother and sister) who go to their grandfather’s house because their parents are on a cruise. During that time, they find out that their grandpa is the caretaker of Fablehaven, a magical world layered over his property. The world consists of fairies, naiads, and demons.

I think Fablehaven is superb. I love the theme of the book, how there is another world full of mystical creatures which very few people in the world know about. It has the “things aren’t always what they seem” moral because of it. It is kind of like a mix of Harry Potter, Beyonders, and Eragon. The book is very unique. I have never seen anything like the topic it has. The book has one goal, which is to find out the secret of Fablehaven. This goal is the goal until the end of the book when the goal is accomplished. Then the characters have a new goal which is more major than the other. The reader thinks all is lost because the enemy is about to win. Then Kendra, one of the two main characters, thinks of a plan to save the day, and it works. I like that.

My favorite character is Seth. He is the brother of Kendra. He is brave and daring and is always wanting to take the risks no one else would. He is very silly with Kendra and makes me laugh a few times because of it. I like his personality.

I also read the next book in the Fablehaven series. I think I like the next book a little better than this one. I want to read the rest of the series. I rate this book 10 out of 10 stars. While I was reading this book, I felt like I was actually experiencing what the characters were experiencing. Have a great reading day!

I love the fablehaven series but I have one request for Brandon mull, to make a 6th fablehaven book. I’m wondering about how the relationship between bracken and Kendra goes and how it turns out for raxtus. Thanks!
